Crafting Character Skillfully

Building character begins

in infancy and is a sure foundation for future success

Carmel Christian School has the following values that make up the acronym HEART.

These values underpin all that we do:

'Honesty is the best policy', is not just a cliche for us at CCS. We actively promote and encourage honesty, knowing that it is the bedrock of communication and trust, and is therefore vital for building positive relationships. We provide a safe environment where children can communicate freely and honestly, within the boundaries of respect for self and others. All of our staff demonstrate open and honest communication so that our little ones can learn from their example.

Excellence and Enjoyment

We believe that excellence and enjoyment go hand in hand. As much as we encourage children to do everything to the best of their ability, we also want them to enjoy school. One cannot be at the expense of the other. We do not promote excellence to the detriment of fun, and neither do we promote fun to the detriment of effort and perseverance. Combining these factors contributes to an environment in which our children are happy achievers.

Agape Love

Primarily, we facilitate an environment for children to experience God’s unconditional (agape) love and grow in their individual love for Him. We also place a high emphasis on loving each other and ourselves. The teachers genuinely love the children, and they teach from this basis. The child is not just educated but addressed as a whole person: spirit, soul and body.

In line with British values, we are a school that upholds respect for self and others; bullying of any kind is not tolerated. We accept and embrace children from all nationalities; we are not biased or prejudiced. Staff and children esteem and appreciate each other, which encourages open and polite communication.

Classroom teaching, activities and discussions are all based on mutual respect. Adults model and promote expected behaviour, treating all people as unique and valuable individuals, showing respect for pupils and their families.

The school community is very much a family where each individual member is cared for and celebrated. The family environment enables teachers and pupils to grow in their faith and in their relationships with each other. No child is isolated; we believe in working together and helping each other to achieve their highest potential. Core family values are promoted and adhered to, as we train children to behave responsibly towards each other.
